2D (2-Dimensional) codes are similar to the UPC codes you’re used to seeing on products and coupons, but with some very cool advantages: 2D codes can hold a lot more information – and you can read the codes with any smartphone. Using them is easy.

Just download an App for your smartphone. (Get the 2DCodeMe app for iPhone in the iTunes App Store.) Launch the app, take a picture of the code, and the phone will decode the information. Without any more effort from you, you’ll be linked to a website, a phone number, an email, or to download cool exclusive content, like a ringtone or a video, or a coupon!

Making them is just as easy –

First, decide what you want to link people to. It could be your facebook profile, your band’s latest video, your flickr album, or a love poem! Just click on “Create your own code” link, and enter the information. With one click, you’ll have created the connection from offline to online.
